Projects

Strata Plan Certification Current

To March 2020 there have been over 3,700 Strata Plans certified producing over 60,000 strata lots. Some of our continuing applicants are Australand, Billbergia, Crown International, Deicorp, Dyldam, Holdmark, Payce Properties, Sekesui House, Skyton, Stocklands, to name a few. The projects range from Merimbula on the south coast of NSW up to Tweed Heads on the far north coast, and all in between.

Subdivision Certification Current

Only subdivisions that have been determined by the NSW Government as Major Projects can certified by an accredited certifier. Up to March 2020 there have been over fifty (50) Subdivision Plans certified. These projects vary from stratum subdivisions in high rise developments in Sydney to large infrastructure developments such as Cochlear Site in Macquarie University; Lindfield Campus of UTS Ku-ring-gai; Kooragang Island Coal Export Terminal (Newcastle), Tomago Industrial site and Wind Farm projects in Inverell and Mudgee.

Complying Development Current

Up to March 2020 there have been over 1,500 Complying Development Certificates for Strata Subdivision issued. These projects range from three (3) lots up to two hundred and six (206) lots. The certificate is issued instead of a Development Consent from Council for a strata subdivision.

Professional Experience:

Has experience as a Director in previous firms, WG Hunt, Sunter & Co (79-93) and Bowdens Group (93-00). Had mainly been involved in supervising engineering design and project managing land development projects. Has a particular interest in Strata Schemes and Community Schemes.

Gordon was also responsible for assessing major subdivision projects for a major financial institution. His duties included approving payments by the financial institution and assessing costs to complete.

Gordon sat on the UDIA Community and Strata Title Committee 1999-2007 (of which he was Chairman for two years). Gordon also sat on the ISA/ACS Panel for Accreditation of Survey Firms for Subdivision Civil Works.

He was Chairman of the Professional Surveyors Occupational Association (PSOA) from 2001 and 2005. (This body is approved under the Professional Standards Act to manage a limited liability scheme for surveyors. This body was also approved by DIPNR to administer an Accredited Certifier Scheme up until 2007.) He was also a Director on the executive of the Association of Consulting Surveyors, NSW and also sat on the board of Consulting Surveyors Australia.

Gordon is a Principal Certifier-Subdivisions and Accredited Certifier-Strata under the EP&A Act. This allows him to issue Subdivision Certificates (where provided for in Planning Instruments, generally with State Significant Developments) and also to issue Strata Certificates. Up to Aug 2019, he has assessed over 3,500 Strata Plans producing over 65,000 lots.

He was appointed as a part-time non-judicial member of the Administrative Decisions Tribunal (ADT) from 2003 to 2009. He has sat with Deputy President Hennessy on the DIPNR v Conway case, and Judge Kevin O'Connor on the DIPNR v Dallas case and BPB v Johnson.

Gordon was on the Board of the Association of Accredited Certifiers (AAC) 2006-2015, and was the Chairman of the AAC Subdivision and Strata Committee.

He is currently serving on the AAC Subdivision and Strata Committees.

Ross Grinsell Director & Business Manager

Professional Experience:

Commenced work with Grinsell & Johns in 1975 and has for the past twenty-five years worked in the office calculating subdivisions and assisting in engineering design using Landmark and AutoCad software. Ross has extensive experience in client relations and dealing with complicated negotiations with various Councils regarding development issues.
